Germany: new Opel Zafira features LPG version

Opel has upgraded its popular model, a revolutionary integrated five- or seven-seat van, to offer exceptional versatility and optimum comfort. Buyers of the new Opel Zafira also have a large range of engines to choose from, as it will be the only vehicle in its class offering the entire spectrum of powertrains. Opel has sold 2.7 million units of the Zafira, mainly to families and professionals who need a spacious and flexible vehicle for travelling long distances in high comfort.

The key innovations of this new model include a relaxing and ergonomic cockpit and lounge comfort design for up to seven people; an enhanced connectivity with new infotainment systems with smartphone integration, and a wider range of propulsion systems encompassing gasoline, diesel, LPG and CNG versions.

Under Class B energy efficiency label and meeting Euro 6 standards, the LPG version features a 1.4 litre turbocharged engine, with 103 kW/140 PS, producing a maximum torque of 200Nm at 1.850–4.900 rpm. It offers a top speed of 195 km/h with an acceleration of 0-100 km/h in 11.8 seconds. The average fuel consumption is 9.2 to 8.5 litres, with CO2 emissions of 149-139 g/km.

The fact that this new model is proposed with an LPG version reflects the long-standing commitment of Opel to Autogas, and further expands the carmaker’s range of LPG-powered vehicles. Opel offers the largest LPG portfolio of any German carmaker and is responding to the increasing popularity of Autogas throughout Europe which is driven by cost conscious and environmentally aware customers.

The car is produced in Rüsselsheim, Germany, and it will be available from the end of September 2016. It can now be ordered for the entry-level price of €21,990 (RRP incl. VAT in Germany).
